At least six people were taken to hospital early Sunday following an all-night rave party at Northlands Sportex.

Five were in drug-induced states, city police said. One was injured after falling from speakers.

Charlene Coutts, public affairs officer for Capital Health, said a total of nine people were taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital and University Hospital early Sunday, after 3 a.m., after taking drugs. One was admitted to hospital.

Coutts said she could not confirm how many of the nine might have been at the rave.

The ages of those taken to hospital wasn't known.

A city council committee intends to look into ways to control raves. City officials have prepared a briefing paper that will be presented Wednesday to council's executive committee.

Coun. Michael Phair said recently that youth dances such as raves do not have similar controls that are on adult dance halls that serve liquor.
